Detailed itinerary 6 days Maasai Mara & Rift Valley Lakes safari

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Bogoria

As early as 07h 30 m you will be picked from your hotel in Nairobi by your safari driver – guide and after a short safari briefing you will embark on a journey to Lake Bogoria, this drive takes you northwest through the scenic floor of the Great Rift Valley where you will enjoy scenic views and from the top of the escarpment you will enjoy views of the Great Lakes dotted across the landscape below.

When you arrive at the lake, you will check into your lodge, have lunch then rest for a while as you prepare to go for a visit to Lake Bogoria, Lake Bogoria is a Soda lake inhabited by millions of flamingoes recorded to be over 2 millions inhabiting the shores of the lake, the flamingoes are attracted to the lake because of the high salt and mineral content in the lake.

While on a visit to this lake you will enjoy watching millions of flamingoes, natural hot springs and geysers. After the experience you will return to your lodge, have lunch and stay overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast t your lodge/resort you will checkout and embark on a journey to Lake Nakuru national park protecting Lake Nakuru, Lake Nakuru is an alkaline lake found in the Great Rift Valley hosting millions of pink flamingoes on its shores. Lake Nakuru and Lake Nakuru national park is a great Kenya birding site hosting over 400 bird species and is a wildlife sanctuary hosting endangered white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffe, lions, leopards, buffaloes and zebras.

 When you arrive in the park you will go for a game drive on which you will enjoy watching many animals and at lunch you will head to your lodge, have lunch and in the afternoon return to the lake for a boat safari on which you will enjoy watching many birds and animals on the shores of the lake. After the experience you will return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Naivasha

After morning breakfast at your lodge, you will checkout and head on an en-route morning game drive as you exit the park heading to Lake Naivasha, on your arrival you will check into your lodge, have lunch then go for a nature walk in Crescent Island Game Sanctuary a private reserve situated on the peninsula which transforms into an island in Lake Naivasha when the waters of the lake rinses. While on the walk you will enjoy watching many animals such as wildebeests, zebras, antelope species and many birds such as pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles and many more.

Alternatively you can also visit Hell’s Gate national park situated close to Lake Naivasha, in this site you will enjoy participating in hiking and cycling. After the activity you will return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Maasai Mara

After breakfast at your lodge, you will head for a visit to Lake Naivasha for a boat cruise then head on a drive south to the Narok town where you will have a stopover for lunch, encounter the local people and watch beautiful souvenirs such as necklaces, earrings and many more.

Then proceed to Maasai Mara national reserve one of the finest wildlife destinations in the world, the reserve is a very rewarding destination for wildlife viewing including the big five and annual wildebeest migration. When you arrive in the reserve you will check into your lodge, have lunch as you prepare for an evening game drive, on the evening game drive you will watching predators such as lions, cheetahs, African dogs as they hunt for preys with a help of a spot light.

 In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner then stay overnight.

Day 5: full day in Maasai Mara Reserve

After breakfast at your lodge you will head out to the rolling plains of Maasai Mara national reserve together with your packed lunch for a full day of exploring the reserve on a morning and afternoon game drive.  Maasai Mara national reserve is a home to a rich variety of animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, rhinos, wildebeests, Thomson and grant’s gazelles, cheetahs, warthogs and many more which you will encounter on both morning and afternoon game drive.

At lunch you will have picnic lunch set at any of the reserve’s picnic sites where you will enjoy your meals and scenic views of rolling savannah dominated plains of the reserve. In the evening you will return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Return to Nairobi

After morning breakfast at your lodge, you will checkout out and head for an en-route game drive as you exit the reserve on your way back to Nairobi. When you reach in Nairobi you will have lunch then be dropped off either at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your flight back home.
