Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater.
Take a one-day safari excursion from Arusha to see one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. The largest intact, unflooded caldera in the world is the Ngorongoro Crater. A safari inside the Ngorongoro Crater offers much more than just amazing wildlife viewing, especially if you can spend one night here. The crater’s walls rise up to 600 metres. All of Africa’s most exotic wildlife, including as zebras, ostriches, buffalo, antelope, and rhinos, can be found in the Ngorongoro Crater. It also has all of the Big Five, although giraffes are not found inside the crater since the sheer cliffs make it difficult for them to enter and exit. On your way to the crater, though, you might come across giraffes.
Since it takes four to five hours to go to Ngorongoro Crater from Arusha, a one-day safari is extremely hurried. We advise including a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater on a two-day or longer safari, if time permits. If you can stay overnight, witnessing the dawn and sunset from the edge of the crater is also a truly amazing experience.
Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire National Park is an excellent safari destination for a one-day safari if witnessing elephants is your top safari goal. This safari destination perfectly captures the essence of a safari with its abundant elephant population and stunning baobab trees. You can have a full day of safari and yet return to Arusha in the evening if you’re prepared for an early start. Tarangire is about a three-hour drive from Arusha. Four of the Big Five can be seen at Tarangire, and sightings of elephants and lions are common. Unfortunately, you will not find rhino in Tarangire and spotting a leopard can also be hard work.
Arusha National Park.
The reason the location is so appealing is because many tourists choose to visit the more well-known Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park instead of Arusha National Park. Arusha National Park, which is less crowded and has an amazing setting beneath Mount Meru, provides excellent opportunities for observing wildlife. It also offers single-day walking and vehicle safaris. Although it is unusual, it is possible to see leopards in this park. Elephant sightings are likewise infrequent, but you may expect to see flamingos, buffalo, hippo, zebra, and wildebeest, among other unusual creatures. The greatest concentration of giraffes in the world can be found in Arusha National Park. Arusha National Park is an excellent choice for a single day safari because it is conveniently located near both Arusha and the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Lake Manyara National Park.
Lake Manyara is the best option if you’re searching for a somewhat more distinctive Tanzanian safari experience. This national park is well-known for its enormous numbers of flamingos and cormorants, which are found near the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. It also has hippos, giraffes, and large herds of elephants, in addition to the unusual Manyara lions, who are renowned for their extraordinary tree-climbing abilities. A single day safari in Lake Manyara is a long day, but it’s still well worth the effort, as it takes about three hours to get there from Arusha.
Kenya.
Nairobi National Park.
Kenya’s oldest national park is the ideal safari destination if you’re on a tight schedule, located just 7km from the city heart of Nairobi. Nairobi National Park offers amazing game viewing, with regular sightings of rhinos, giraffes, lions, buffalos, leopards, hyenas, antelopes, and gazelles. You can even see the city skyline from within the park. Nairobi National Park is one of the greatest and easiest places in the world to go on a single-day safari since, while being uncommon, it is feasible to see the Big Five there.
Amboseli National Park.
With over 400 bird species, baboons, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, and antelope in addition to its massive elephant herds, Amboseli National Park is a wonderful spot to fit in a lot of game viewing in a single day. Located on the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro, it’s a great safari activity to add on before or after your mountain trek. It would be unrealistic to do a one-day safari from Nairobi to Amboseli, which is about 4-5 hours away. Kilimanjaro can be a shy mountain, so you might want to give yourself a few days if you want to get that amazing picture of an elephant or giraffe in front of the summit.
