South Pare Mountains – Bird Checklist : South Pare Mountains is a magnificent mountain range located entirely with the Kilimanjaro Region in Northern Tanzania, extending from Vumari ward on the border with Mwanga District to Kalemwe ward in on the border with Lushoto District in Tanga region.

The range is divided up into northern and southern subranges, both which are part of the Eastern Arch Mountains. Within the range, there are ovar 52 named mountain and the highest which is also the most prominent is Shengana Peak – 2,463 meters in South Pare.

South Pare Mountains are one the great birding areas in Tanzania hosting over 162 bird species including 2 endemic species, 6 near endemic species living in the Montane Forest.
