3 Days Congo Lowland Gorilla Safari
3 days Congo Lowland Gorilla Safari is an exceptional gorilla trekking experience that only takes in Kahuzi Beiga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo on an African safari. Compared to mountain gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable national or Mgahinga gorilla national park or in Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, this gorilla trekking takes you to Lowland gorilla expedition, although these are less famous and popular than the mountain gorillas, they are equally fascinating.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park-Bukavu, Congo.
On the first day of the safari, your safari guide from Focus East Africa Tours will pick you up and welcome you and later brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will begin your journey to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The journey takes you through the roads of Rwanda with the thrilling views of the landscapes with various hills. Along the way you will make a stopover for lunch. After lunch you will proceed with your journey and cross the border of DR Congo that closes early by 3pm. After the border crossing, your safari guide will transfer you to your lodge for the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2: Low land Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga National Park.
After breakfast, your safari guide will transfer you from your hotel and then transfer you to the park headquarters for the briefing about the lowland gorilla trekking with your packed lunch and all the gorilla trekking equipment.
After briefing, you will enter the jungle to look for the lowland gorillas; that takes you from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the location of the gorillas. And once they are located, you will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas, watching them doing their daily activities like playing, grooming, feeding, and others like taking their pictures and recording their videos though using no or fewer flash cameras.
After the experience, you will drive back to your hotel for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 3: transfer to Kigali.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and then start on your journey back to Kigali, with the thrilling views along the way, you will make a stopover along the way for an en-route lunch. Continue with your journey. Once in Kigali, your safari guide will drop you off at your convenient place in Kigali, either at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, which will bring your safari to an end.
