3 Days Lowland Gorilla and Chimpanzee Sanctuary
The 3 days lowland gorilla and chimpanzee sanctuary is a wonderful experience that takes you on an extraordinary three-day primate tour that connects the mist-shrouded jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo with Rwanda’s ancient rainforests.
This compact adventure begins in Kigali and takes you to Kahuzi-Biega National Park, a critical sanctuary for the rare Eastern Lowland gorillas, the largest of all gorilla subspecies.
After an intimate hour with these gentle giants, the safari takes you to the chimpanzee sanctuary to see the chimpanzees. Combining lowland gorillas and chimpanzees makes it a wonderful safari.
Day 1: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park, Bukavu, Congo.
On the first day of the safari, after your early breakfast at the hotel in Rwanda, your safari driver guide from Focus East Africa Tours will welcome you and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will begin your scenic transfer to Bukavu in DR Congo.
Along the way you will enjoy your en route lunch. After lunch proceed with your journey and then you arrive in Bukavu later in the evening, then transfer to your hotel for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla trekking and visit the chimpanzee sanctuary.
After your breakfast, your safari driver will pick you up from the hotel with your packed lunch and trekking equipment and then transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing before you start the lowland gorilla trek.
After the briefing you will enter the forests and start looking for the low land gorillas and this takes from 30 minutes to 7 hours. And once you find the gorillas, you spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them play, feed, groom, and breastfeed, among other like taking pictures and recording their videos with less flash cameras.
After the one hour, you will return to the starting points and get certificates for engaging in lowland gorilla trekking in DR Congo.
Later you will transfer and then visit the chimpanzee sanctuary and observe their characters and daily behaviors, among others. Later you will be transferred back to your hotel for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali.
After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge. And later your Congo safari guide will pick you up and then you will begin your journey back to Kigali while enjoying the winding roads and beautiful landscapes of Rwanda with the en route along the way.
You will later be dropped off at your convenient place, either at Kigali International Airport or at your hotel in Kigali, which will bring your safari to the end.
