Detailed Itinerary of a 3-Day Rwanda Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where you will meet our safari driver-guide. After a warm welcome, you will start your journey to Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of Rwanda. Arrive at the park depending on your arrival time. You may have a chance to go for a short evening game drive in the park for wildlife viewing. Have dinner and an overnight stay.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 2: Full Day Adventure in Akagera National Park
After a morning breakfast, embark on a full day of wildlife exploration in Akagera National Park. Enjoy a morning game drive, where you will explore the park’s diverse landscape, comprised of savannah, lakes, and wetlands.
You will keep your eye open to view the Big Five—”lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros”—as well as other animal species like giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. Have a break to enjoy your packed lunch in a designated area within the park.
Later, you will continue for another game drive or take a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos and crocodiles. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning Game | Departure
Wake up early at around 6am and embark on an early morning game drive to catch a glimpse of the park. After the game drive, drive back to your accommodation for breakfast and check out.
Depart back to Kigali city and depending on your schedule time, you may visit the Genocide Memorials and get to learn about Rwanda’s history. Visit Kigali’s vibrant markets, art galleries, and cultural sites if time permits. Enjoy lunch in Kigali before connecting to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
