4 Days Rwanda & Uganda safari
The 4-day Rwanda & Uganda safari is an exceptional safari experience that takes you to incredible Uganda trekking destinations, which are Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and then Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.
The safari as well offers you the fascinating life of the former safari moments with the Batwa village tours, the former forest people and visiting Genocide memorial sites.
Day 1: Pick up Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Upon arriving in Rwanda, your safari will begin when your safari guide picks you up from Kigali International Airport or from your hotel in Kigali and briefs you about the safari. You will visit the Genocide memorial sites, where many people died during Rwanda’s genocide.
After the experience, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park in northeastern Rwanda, where you will check in at your lodge in Ruhengeri, which is close to the park, for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Bwindi.
After breakfast, you will transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters early in the morning for a briefing by park rangers on gorilla trekking. After that, you will enter the volcanic forest, which has incredible biodiversity, including bird species, golden monkeys, green vegetation, and perfect views of the volcanic peaks.
Gorilla trekking takes a period from 30 minutes to 4 hours. And once the gorillas are located, you will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them doing their daily activities like playing, feeding, mothers grooming their young ones, and many more.
After transferring to your starting point, get the gorilla trekking certificates, then enjoy your packed lunch. After traveling across the Virunga Volcanoes to Uganda’s Bwindi, you will enjoy dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
After breakfast, you’ll go to the park HQ for a briefing on gorilla trekking. After briefing, you will enter the forest and then move through the dense jungle while looking for the gorillas in the difficult, rough landscape of the steep hills and valleys.
This excursion takes about 30minutes to six hours depending on the location of the gorillas, and when the gorillas are located, you will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas. After a one-hour trek back to the starting point, participants will receive certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking. You will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Batwa cultural experience and transfer to Kigali.
After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge, meet your safari guide, and go for a community walk to the Batwa people, who used to live in the Bwindi Forest before it was designated as a national park. You will learn about their life and culture as forest people and be awarded their knowledge on natural medicinal herbs, hunting and gathering, and more.
After the experience, you will be transferred back to Kigali with an en-route lunch, enjoying incredible views of the volcanic mountains. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your preferred location, bringing your safari to an end.
