Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer and visit Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy
On the 1st day of 5 days Mount Kenya climbing safari you are to transfer to Mount Kenya with a visit at Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, after breakfast you will meet your safari driver and embark on a 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi with a first stopover in Nanyuki town.
Nanyuki town is the main gateway to Mount Kenya, upon your arrival you will be welcomed by snow-scented breeze from a distant peak, have lunch then proceed to Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy for a visit. Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy is a home to Kenya’s animal orphanage housing several endangered, orphaned and injured animals such as mountain bongo, white zebras and many more. In the evening you will head to your lodge, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Old Moses camp climb
On the 2nd day of 5 days Mount Kenya climbing safari you are to transfer to Sirimon Park Gate at the elevation of 2660 meters heading to Old Moses camp, after breakfast you will drive to Sirimon Park Gate checking in at 9 am and start your hike through magnificent mountain forest, bamboo, giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and the first hut (Old Moses camp situated at 3,300 meters). This trek is for 9 kilometers taking about 2-3 hours, you will have lunch at Old Moses Camp and spend the afternoon on this point enjoying views of summits of Batian and Nelion peaks. You will have dinner and stay overnight Old Moses camp.
Day 3: Shipton camp hike
On the 3rd day of 5 days Mount Kenya climbing safari you are to hike to Shipton’s camp situated at the elevation of 4200 meters on a journey of 17 kilometers, as early as 730 am you will start your climbing after morning breakfast. On your climb, you will follow a trail uphill flocking left at the junction where the track crosses the Ontulili River. On this track you go right contouring through the moorland crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valle, from the valley you will get panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. The day’s hike takes about 6-8 hours and on the whole hike you will enjoy panoramic views of the peaks from this viewpoint, you will spend the night at Shipton’s camp.
Day 4: Hike to point Lenana
On the 4th day of 5 days Mount Kenya climbing safari you are to climb heading to point Lenana and then descend to Mintos hut and proceed down to Chogoria Bandas. You will wake up as early as 3 am and set off on a climb through the rocky track heading to point Lenana on a trek of 6 kilometers, this rocky track cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns. You arrive at point Lenana of Mount Kenya at about 6:30 am a perfect time for enjoying the colorful and magnificent sunrise then you will descend heading to Mintos Hut for breakfast and after the breakfast you will proceed down through the Gorges Valley to Chogoria Bandas and campsite where you are to spend the night.
Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi
On the 5th day of 5 days Mount Kenya climbing safari you are transfer back to Nairobi, after early morning breakfast at Chogoria Bandas and campsites you will meet your safari driver and embark on a journey to back to Nairobi with a drive through Chogoria village. When you reach Nairobi you will have lunch then be dropped off either at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta international airport for your departure flight.
