This 6-day Rwanda Wildlife Safari is a well-designed Rwanda wildlife safari tour package with the addition of a Rwanda primate tour. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be driven to the hotel in Kigali for relaxation and to take lunch. You will have a stopover at the Genocide memorial sites and other places of interest. Have dinner and stay overnight.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trekking
After a morning breakfast at the lodge at around 6am, drive to the park for a short briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. Embark in the forest in search of a gorilla family. On finding them, you will have an hour to spend with gorillas. After seeing the gorillas, return to your hotel for relaxation with an option of going on a culture encounter. Have dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Drive from Kigali city to Akagera National Park
You will drive to Akagera National Park for an afternoon game drive to see various night birds and animals. After, return back for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Enjoy a morning breakfast at the lodge, then embark on a morning game drive where you will explore several antelopes’ species. Later, drive out of the park with a picnic lunch to Kigali town and continue to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe Forest hosts various primate species, such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and wild chimpanzees, among others.
Arriving in the evening, you can engage in a night walk in search of the shy forest dwellers. Dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

After enjoying your morning breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. Afterward, walk into the forest with park rangers and trained guides in search of the chimpanzees. Have lunch at the lodge.
Later, go for a canopy walk at the top of the Nyungwe forest and experience it; it’s worth it. Dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Kigali City Tour / Departure
Enjoy an early morning breakfast before leaving for Kigali International Airport. During your Kigali city tour, expect to visit the craft villages where you can buy souvenirs to take back to your family. Depending on your time of departure, if time permits, you can visit other touristic sites like the local market, the genocide memorial site, among others.
