Detailed itinerary of 7 days Kenya family safari
Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Pickup at your hotel in Nairobi by your safari driver and after a short safari briefing you will embark on a journey of 3-4 hours heading to Maasai Mara national reserve, on your way you will pass through Narok town a great masai town where you will experience Masai culture and have an opportunity to buy masai artifacts such as beautiful necklaces and many more.
When you arrive in the reserve you will check into your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for an afternoon game drive searching for lions, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, elephants and many other amazing wildlife species calling the park a home. Return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: morning and afternoon game drive
Wake up early in the morning and head to the reserve for an early morning game drive offering a chance to spot some of the large lion prides in the Mara plains, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, African dogs and many more. After the game drive you will head back to your lodge for late breakfast then lounge around your lodge as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon you will return to the reserve for another game drive spotting more animals living in the reserve such as giraffes, rhinos, buffaloes, zebras, jackals, bat-eared foxes, Nile crocodiles and many more. If you visit Masai Mara national reserve in the period of July to September you will have an opportunity to watch the great wildebeest migration where over 1.5 million wildebeests accompanied zebras, elands, gazelles migrate into the plains of the reserve. Have dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: transfer to Lake Naivasha
After morning breakfast at your lodge you will checkout of your lodge and exit Maasai Mara national reserve and embark on a drive of 5 hours to Lake Naivasha reaching in time for lunch which you will have at your lodge after checking in. After lunch you will head for a visit to Hells Gate national park for a hiking or cycling safari, while in the park you will have a chance to engage in rock climbing, visiting geothermal power plant and take amazing photography. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4: transfer to Amboseli
After morning breakfast you will checkout of your lodge and head to Lake Naivasha for watching of the flamingoes then embark on a journey of about 5 hours heading to Amboseli national park one of the most scenic safari destination is Kenya with a back drop of Mountain Kilimanjaro. On your way you will have a stopover in the Great Rift Valley for scenic views of the scenery and proceed to the park, on your arrival you will check into your lodge for lunch then later go an afternoon game drive searching for lions, leopards, large herds of free ranging elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, cheetahs, rhinos, waterbucks, elands and many more. Have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: transfer to Taita hill salt lick
Wake up early, leave your lodge and head to the park for an early morning game drive for watching early risers such as cape buffaloes, African bush elephants, leopards, lions, zebras, waterbucks, rhinos and many more. After the game drive you will return to your lodge, have breakfast then checkout and embark on a 3 hours journey to Taita Hills Sanctuary. On your arrival you will have lunch after checking into your lodge then head for an afternoon game drive, Taita Hills Sanctuary is a residence area for a variety of wildlife species such as Maasai giraffes, elephants, hartebeests, impalas, waterbucks, Thomson gazelles and many more which you will spot on an afternoon game drive. Have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 6: transfer to Tsavo East
Wake up early in the morning and head to the sanctuary for an early morning game drive for sighting of cheetahs, Maasai giraffes, waterbucks and many more, after the game drive you will head back to your lodge for breakfast then checkout and embark on a journey to Tsavo East national park. Tsavo national park is a famous Kenya safari destination for man eating lions and large herds of dust elephants, the park hosts other animals such as waterbucks, lesser kudu, gerenuk, hippos, leopards and over 500 recorded species of birds.
When you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge, have lunch then go for an afternoon game drive spotting many animals. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: morning game drive and transfer back to Nairobi
Wake up early in the morning and head to the savannah plains of Tsavo East national park for an early morning game drive, on the game drive you will have a chance to watch many animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, waterbucks, lesser kudus, gerenuks and many more. After the game drive, you will head back to your lodge for late breakfast then checkout and embark on a journey back to Nairobi. When you arrive in Nairobi you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
