8 Days Kenya and Tanzania safari is truly a bucket list experience. This combined safari package offers a perfect introduction to East Africa, combining two of the world’s best wildlife destinations into one adventure.
This itinerary is designed to increase your game viewing opportunities, taking you from the iconic open savannahs of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya to the endless plains of Serengeti national park and the undulating landscapes of Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. During this 8 Days East Africa safari , you will witness the ‘’Big five’’ (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) in their natural habitats and experience some of the most breathtaking scenery on Earth.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.
On the first day of the safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi by your safari guide, who will brief you about the safari and then start a scenic drive to Masai Mara upon your arrival. You will check in and enjoy lunch at the lodge. After lunch go for a wonderful game drive in search for the reserve’s incredible wildlife.
Return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and Maasai village tours in Masai Mara.
After breakfast, you head for a morning game drive in Masai Mara to witness the famous Big Five (lions, buffalo, rhinos, elephants, and leopards), as well as other animal species and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch, after lunch you will go for Maasai village tours and visit them in their traditional homes (Manyattas), interact with them, enjoy their dances and songs. Return to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Hot air balloon and game drives in Masai Mara.
Wake up early in the morning for a unique and rewarding hot air balloon ride over the endless plains of Masai Mara, with the aerial views of the wildlife and landscape views of savanna plains scattered with acacia trees as you take in the perfect sunrises over the Mara. You will end your hot air balloon ride with a champagne breakfast in the wilderness.
Enjoy game drives on the Mara plains after your hot air balloon ride over Masai Mara to spot the park’s diverse animals. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as above.
Day 4: Fly/Drive to Serengeti National Park (Seronera area).
After an early breakfast, check out from your lodge and you will drive towards the Isebania border with en-route game viewing of the early risers. Your Kenya safari guide will handle over to you to the Tanzania safari guide.
You will clear your immigration and then begin your journey to Serengeti; upon arrival, check in for lunch. After going for an exciting game drive, later return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Full day in Serengeti National Park.
After breakfast, go on explore Serengeti National Park on both morning and afternoon game drives where you will spot various wildlife species including Thomson’s gazelles, Topis, cheetahs, lions, and among others. You will head to the visitor’s center after your game drive and enjoy your packed lunch.
After take a game drive to the Moru Kopjes, which offer you perfect viewing of the lions, especially during dry seasons when most animals visit to cool off and drink. Go back for dinner and spend the night as before.
Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area.
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey from Serengeti with an en-route game drive; you will enjoy your packed lunch along the way. Upon your arrival you will begin your guided walking safari across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area; you will experience nature and wildlife up close before being transferred to your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 7: Full day Ngorongoro crater Drive.
After a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, you will experience half day Tanzania tour that takes you over 600 meters down into the crater to see wildlife. You will see herds of wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippos, elephants, and many more, later you will enjoy your picnic lunch.
After lunch you visit Lake Magadi, a big shallow alkaline lake in the southwest that you will also explore. You will see flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic birds. After that you will make the drive to the lodge to spend the night and have dinner.
Day 8: Maasai Boma Visit and Departure.
After breakfast at the lodge, check out and visit Maasai Bomas to where you will meet the brave people that once coexisted with the wild game of Ngorongoro conservation Area that as part of Serengeti. After continue with a transfer back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport in preparation for your departure that ends your safari.
