Canoeing at Lake Duluti
Lake Duluti is also a birder’s paradise. Beautiful birds reside in this beautiful Crater Lake. Monitor lizards can be seen on the edge of Lake Duluti. Monkeys are also commonly encountered in the Lake Duluti forest, which is also very scenic and lush.
Mount Meru day hike
Mount Meru is the second-highest peak in Tanzania, rising to 4,566 meters above sea level. The trek to the summit of this mountain takes three days. But if you don’t have enough time to climb it, a day hike is a taste of how spectacular Mount Kilimanjaro is.
A day hike to Mount Meru will begin from your hotel in Arusha. You will drive to Arusha National Park, a journey that will take an hour. Your guide will sort out paperwork with park officials, and soon you will drive to the starting point—the Momella Gate.
A day hike will begin from Momella Gate at 1,300 meters and continue to Miriakamba Hut at 2,500 meters. As you hike up Mount Meru, you see the majestic Kilimanjaro on a clear day.
You will also see wild animals, such as buffalos, warthogs, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, and dik-diks. Some stunning birds and insects reside on the lower slopes of Mount Meru. You might be lucky to see turacos, hornbills, butterflies, and more.
The Mount Meru day hike will take 3 to 4 hours. After getting close to Miriakamba Hut, you will have a picnic lunch and a short rest. You will then descend by the outer route to the gate for 2 to 3 hours. A car will be waiting for you when you arrive at the gate.
A Day Trip to Arusha National Park
Before you go on your Tanzania safari to spectacular wildlife destinations like Serengeti, you can visit Arusha National Park on a half-day wildlife viewing tour. On this tour, you will view wild animals like wildebeests, giraffes, elephants, dik-diks, and much more.
Arusha National Park is a one-hour drive from Arusha town. Your tour will begin in the morning, following breakfast. You will drive through the trail to the entrance of Arusha National Park. After sorting out the paperwork, you will begin your half-day drive. You can drive Mini Serengeti, Uwanja wa Mbogo, or Ngurdoto Crater for better wildlife views.
Arusha biking tour
If you want to gain strength, a bike tour is for you. This tour will take you through the flat terrain of Arusha town. On your mountain bike, you will pedal through beautiful paths and across coffee and banana fields.
The ride takes two hours and can be done in the morning or afternoon. You will start it at your lodge or hotel in Arusha and leave the streets for nearby local villages. Other reptiles that you can see at Meserani are the crocodiles. You can enjoy feeding these creatures if you arrive during their feeding time. You can embark on this visit if you are on your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area or Serengeti National Park.
