When comparing gorilla trekking safari and gorilla habituation safari, you should think about the price, the experience, the amount of time, and many other things. Gorilla trekking safari involves a group of eight tourists trekking through the forest for an hour in search of habituated gorilla families in their natural environment. Gorilla habituation, on the other hand, involves getting to know captive gorillas in order to get them used to people.

Gorilla habituation.

Gorilla habituation, on the other hand, just started in 2014 after the Uganda Wildlife Authority sought for tourists to be able to spend more time with mountain gorillas. During this gorilla habituation process, we’ve taken a lot of people to Bwindi for 4 hours to see mountain gorillas. During this safari activity, people will go on a walk to see gorillas that haven’t been around people much yet, and they’ll spend four hours with them. This means that tourists can also take part in activities that help gorillas get used to people, like making calls, naming gorillas, and learning more about gorilla behavior, like when and how gorillas get happy, tired, or don’t want to see people anymore.

Gorilla habituation is a long process in which experts train gorillas in the wild to get used to people so that they won’t hurt them when tourists are around. This is done by a group of experts, researchers, primatologists, scientists, and staff from the observation areas where the process of getting used to each other is happening. The team may visit the gorillas one at a time for two to three years, until they think the gorillas are ready to show guests around. Some of the picked mountain gorillas might take a long time to get used to people, while others might get used to people quickly.

In the past, gorilla habituation experience began in Uganda in 2014. This year marks 9 years since this safari activity began in Uganda. The safari activity takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and tourists spend 4 hours travelling between the southern parts of Nkuringo and Rushaga. Only four people are allowed to take part in this great exercise. Primate Holidays is one of the best companies ready to take clients to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for a gorilla habituation safari experience. Because there are only 8 gorilla permits per day, you will need to book this permit in advance, which Primate Holidays can do for you.

 Best time for gorilla habituation.

Even though the best time for both gorilla trekking and habituation is when it is dry and sunny, you can do either one at any time of the year. Uganda has two natural rainy seasons, from March to May and from October to November. The dry season, on the other hand, lasts longer and is better for doing things outside.

Mountain gorilla safari started in 1993, when the first group of tourists went to the northern part of Bwindi in search of Mubare, the first gorilla family to be used to people. In 2015, Uganda Wildlife Authority used the phrase “gorilla habituation” for the first time in Rushaga area of the park.
