The locals refer to the male hot springs as Mumbugu. Those who placate the male gods with offerings are said to be blessed with prosperity. The locals refer to the female hot springs as Nyasimbi. Women from the area who need help with infertility often visit it.
There’s one ‘small’ thing about the wildlife here that makes Semliki special its diminutive size. Some of the animals in this wildlife reserve are smaller than typical African wildlife.
Semliki feels as though it could be on a different planet, with its tiny forest elephants with their tiny tusks pointing straight down, pygmy hippos and antelope, and dwarfed forest buffalo compared to the Cape buffalo. Additionally, Semliki’s close proximity to Lake Albert makes it a great place for boating safaris.
