The 3 days gorilla trekking safari is an amazing adventure that starts and ends in Kampala Uganda. The safari will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western part of Uganda where you will get an opportunity to spend one hour with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural environment. During the 3 days gorilla trekking safari, you will also engage in Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the batwa people who used to live in Bwindi forest before it was gazetted into a national park.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Depending on your location in Kampala on the first day of the 3 days gorilla trekking safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will buy souvenirs and take photos. From the Equator, you will proceed with en-route lunch and stunning views of the countryside, beautiful scenery, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands and many others. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park and Batwa cultural tour

Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days gorilla trekking safari, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be sub-divided into groups of 8 people where each group will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with gorilla trekking trails. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorillas because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

Batwa People

During trekking you will enjoy views of other wildlife species including forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers, other primates like chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, variety of bird species, view different plant and tree species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their habits, lifestyle, behaviors, watch them feed, play, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home after the safari.

After the interesting one hour with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and later meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to learn about their culture, lifestyle, way of living, visit their homesteads, learn about their hunting and gathering skills, enjoy their local dishes, traditional entertainments among others. After the Batwa cultural tour, you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 3 days gorilla trekking safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch and proceed to Kampala. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
