Day 1, Transfer to Akagera National Park
have breakfast at your hotel in Kigali then be picked by your safari- driver guide and embark on a journey to Akagera national park the only savannah national park in Rwanda hosting a variety of wildlife species including lions, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, elephants and many more. Arrive in the park in time for lunch which you will have after checking into your lodge later go for a game drive in the plains of Akagera searching for animals such as Elephants, Gazelles, Antelopes, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Impalas, Leopards, Zebras, Bush Babies, Topis and Baboons among others. Immediately after the experience you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2, Game drive and boat ride on Lake Ihema
Have morning breakfast at your lodge then head to the park for a morning game drive, on this game drive you will have a chance to watch many early risers such as lions, leopards and many other animals such as Maasai Giraffes, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch then in afternoon go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema, while on the boat ride you will enjoy watching many hippos in the waters of the lake and many birds such as Kingfisher, shoebill stork, fish eagles and many more. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Nyungwe Forest national park a habitat for primates including large population of chimpanzees, on your way to the park you will visit the King’s Palace in Nyanza, the Cultural Museum in Butare and have en-route lunch. As you approach the park, you will enjoy the scenic views of the countryside with tea fields scattered with tiny wooden houses. When you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4, Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk
after breakfast at your lodge you will head to the park for a chimpanzee tracking experience, you will have a briefing session at the park’ head quarters then trek into the forest of Nyungwe looking for chimpanzees. While trekking through the forests you will have an opportunity to spot many other primates such as olive baboons, mangabeys, white and black colobus monkeys and many bird species. The tracking experience takes about 3-5 hours and when you find the chimpanzees you will be allowed to stay in their presence for 1 hour watching the chimps playing, mothers caring for their young ones and get to take beautiful pictures. After the experience you will head back to your lodge for lunch and then return to the park for a canopy walk done on a metallic canopy suspended above the forests of Nyungwe. While doing the canopy you will watch many birds living in the forests of Nyungwe, monkeys and the scenic surrounding. Later return to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Community walks and transfer to Volcanoes national park
After breakfast at your lodge, you will go for a community walk visiting local schools and market centers where you will interact with the locals, buy fresh fruits and learn more about the locals and their culture. After the experience you will head back to your lodge for lunch then checkout and embark on a journey to Volcanoes national park arriving in evening, check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6, Mountain Gorilla trekking and transfer back to
Have breakfast then head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking experience, then hike into the forests of volcanoes looking for mountain gorillas. This activity takes about 2-5 hours based on your walking ability and where the gorillas spend the previous night , when you find the gorillas you are to stay in their presence for 1 hour of observing their behavior and taking pictures as long as your flash light is off. After the experience you will head back to the park’s headquarters to pick your trekking certificates then return to your lodge for lunch, after lunch you will checkout and embark on a journey back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off either at the lodge or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
