Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked by our representative and transfer to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park – Nature Walk to the Crater Lake Area

Enjoy early morning breakfast, meet your guide and depart for Kibale National Park – Africa’s primate capital, along the way you will enjoy scenic of Uganda’s country side and Rwenzori mountains. You will have lunch in Fort Portal and proceed to the park arriving in the afternoon, you will go for a nature walk to the Crater Lake Area for magnificent views of the craters. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Have early breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking, you will join other visitors at the park’s headquarters for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow. In groups of 6 people, you will be assigned a chimpanzee group to trek and head into the forests of Kibale with armed ranger guides looking for chimpanzees.

Chimpanzees are very vocal animals and on your search for them, you will locate them for their loud noises and also foot prints left behind. You will spend one hour in their presence watching them jump from on tree branch to another, watch them groom each, observe their behavior and take amazing pictures of them in their natural habitat.

Trek back to the park’s headquarters, meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, enjoy seeing chimpanzees, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkey and many birds. You will also interact with the locals. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is situated in a drive of 2 hours. On arrival, you will have a game drive searching and seeing animals such as lions, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, among others. Head to the lodge for check in and lunch, in the afternoon you will head o Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise.

As you explore this natural channel linking Lake George to Lake Edward, you will see elephants and buffaloes drinking water along the banks of the channel, hippos and Nile crocodiles in the waters and many water birds such as herons, cormorants among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: morning game drive – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its tree climbing lions which you will see resting on fig tree branches if you are lucky, you will also see many other animals such as warthogs, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks among others.

After lunch, you will depart for Bwindi impenetrable national park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Mountain Gorilla

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

Have early breakfast and head to the park for mountain gorilla trekking experience, you will join other visitors at the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking and the dos and don’ts while in the presence of the gorillas and in the jungle of Bwindi.

You will be grouped into 8 people and be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then trek to the starting point with armed ranger and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent the previous night.

When you locate the family, you are allowed to spend only 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas while observing their way of life in the forests of Bwindi, how they interact with each other, watch them play with each, mothers grooming their young ones and take amazing pictures of them as long as your flashlight is off.

Trek back to the park’s headquarters where you will meet your guide and either go for a cultural experience in the Batwa community or return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: transfer to Kigali City, city tour and departure

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and depart for Kigali city for a drop off, you will be dropped off either at the hotel in Kigali or at the airport for your flight back home.
