Hyrax hill archaelogy is located at the Hyrax prehistorical site and museum this is a small rocky lava ridge measuring about 500 meters in length and measuring 50 meters above the surrounding, due to the fact that various hyraxes were occupying the hyrax hill so there are more archeological features that dates in the range from 200 to 500 years ago. Museum Building.
Museum building at Hyrax hill is the former farm house established during 1900 to 1910, the owner was Mrs. Selfe that gave the building to the museum during the period of 1965 to the National Museum of Kenya the building is unique that was constructed in the rectangular shape consisting 5 steps of the veranda and where the main gallery of the site is located in the central space of the building. The museum building has go the 3 major sections where the visitors attend to like the central chamber which is the largest, the curator’s chambers and lastly the Education offices both situated at the back of the building.
There is one gallery in the museum has three chambers that is central gallery, west gallery, east gallery. Among the galleries the central gallery is the largest of all and can be having the display of the archaeology of the site and it has got the model showing the entire of the site then the east chamber displays the natural history objects and lastly west chamber displays the ethnographic materials in the museum.
