Things to avoid while going on a safari in Kenya

Note: All of these great safari destinations have a different pricing system.

Most of the National Parks, Marine Parks and Reserves in Kenya are under the management of Kenya Wildlife Service.

Most of the National Reserve are under the custody of the local county council such as Masai Mara National Reserve and Samburu National Reserves.

The park fees in Kenya varies from one park, reserve and conservancy to another. Also, various from the status of the visitor that is residence status; Citizen, Resident and Non-resident. Citizens refers to Kenya Citizens with valid National ID/Passports and Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi citizens with valid Passport

Residents – refer to persons of other nationalities residing in Kenya with valid documentation from the Kenyan government.

Non – Residents – refer to other nationalities who don’t reside in Kenya with no documentation.

Entry Fees For Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

Entry fees for Lewa Wildlife conservancy is based on day trippers and 24 hours for over-nights. Non- residents day trippers entrance fees is USD 198 per adult, while for overnight the entry fee is USD 126 per adult.
Kenya residents day trippers entrance fees is Ksh. 8,074, while for overnight the entry fee is Ksh. 2,800.
Children between 6-12 years of age 50% of the above applicable fee.

Park Rules

Park rules are intended to ensure that visitors enjoy a superior safari experience without endangering themselves as well the wildlife, please respect the rules and the rangers who are with you on the safari as away of protecting the visitors, wildlife and the environment.

Below are the Kenya Wildlife Service Park and Reserve Rules:

Respect the privacy of the wildlife, this is their habitat.

Beware of the animals, they are wild and can be unpredictable.

Don’t crowd the animals or make sudden noises or movements.

Don’t feed the animals, it upsets their diet and leads to human dependence.

Keep quiet, noise disturbs the wildlife and may antagonize your fellow visitors.

Stay in your vehicle at all times, except at designated picnic or walking areas.

Keep below the maximum speed limit (40 kph/25 mph).

Never drive off-road, this severely damages the habitat.

When viewing wildlife keep to a minimum distance of 20 meters and pull to the side of the road so as to allow others to pass.

Leave no litter and never leave fires unattended or discard burning objects.

Respect the cultural heritage of Kenya, never take pictures of the local people or their habitat without asking their permission, respect the cultural traditions of Kenya and always dress with decorum.

Stay over or leave before dusk, visitors must vacate the Park between 6.00 p.m. – 6.00 a.m. unless they are camping overnight. Night game driving is not allowed.
