This 4 days Uganda Golden Monkey and Batwa Trail Safari takes you on a relatively short Uganda safari adventure to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park located in south western Uganda on the border of Uganda with Rwanda and DR.Congo.
The park is home to the Virunga Volcanoes shared between these three countries and it is the smallest of all Uganda national parks, during this safari you will take part in golden monkeys and Batwa trail safari. You will trek through the jungle in search for the beautiful golden monkeys living in the bamboo vegetation, also you will have a magical encounter with the Batwa pygmies – the people of the forest.

Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala, or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver guide and transfer you to Kisoro – Uganda. Along the way you will enjoy the winding roads of the thousands hills and magnificent views of the volcanoes, have stopovers for lunch and at the Equator Monument in Kayabwe for pictures and a chance to have one leg in the northern hemisphere and another in the southern hemisphere.
Arrive in late evening, check in at your lodge. Have dinner and stay overnight.
There is an option of taking a flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airstrip, this is strictly a morning flight which affords you time at the lodge for some activities in the community or just soaking in the lodge.

Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking.
Golden monkeys are only found in the Virunga Volcanoes shared between Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo, at the park headquarters you a ranger guide will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of mountain gorillas. Head to the starting point, into the forests of Mgahinga looking for golden monkeys on a trek taking about 2 to 4 hours or more.
Golden monkeys are generally more active than the mountain gorillas and while in the forest, you will hear them hooting. You are only allowed to spend 1 hour with the golden monkeys before you start your descent back to the starting point and to your lodge. You will love watching the feed on bamboo shoots among other foods like fruits, vegetation and sometimes ants.

Day 3: Batwa Trail
The Batwa pygmy people are an indigenous tribe that lived in the forests of the Virunga Volcanoes and depended on it for livelihood before they were turned into a national parks to help in conservation of the gorillas, golden monkeys and other fauna and flora. They were hunter-gatherers co-existing with these wildlife.
Today, you will meet these amazing Batwa people and they will take you through the forest and share how they lived and depended on the forest and survived attacks from the animals.
This tour is done on the Batwa Trail which was developed together with Uganda Wildlife Authority to share their experience on how they co-existed with the wildlife and raised families in this jungle, the proceeds from this goes into a fund which is used to purchased land and build for the different Batwa families. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure via Kigali/ Entebbe
We hope you have had an adventure filled stay exploring the incredible Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, today morning after breakfast, the drive guide will transfer you to Kampala with stop in Mbarara for lunch. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
